A June backpacking trip to Kearsarge pass through Onion Valley in the Eastern Sierra Nevada mountains.
Starting early from Onion Valley, we reach beautiful Heart Lake in the middle of the afternoon. Even in June, the path is sometimes covered by snow.
We head back down to pitch our camp, and hurry in our tents to shelter from the incoming snowfall. The sunrise greets us the next morning.
On our way down the trailing clouds make the ragged peaks around the pass look very dramatic.
